The State Government of Uttarakhand has introduced Widow Pension Scheme for the welfare of widows. This scheme provides monthly pension to the eligible widows of the State. In this article, we look at the benefits, eligibility and application procedure of the Uttarakhand Widow Pension Scheme in detail.

Benefits of the Scheme

The widows of the State of Uttarakhand can avail the pension of Rs. 1000/- as per the Widow Pension Plan. It reduces the financial crisis of widows and especially those who belong to Below Poverty Line (BPL); hence their financial position of widows will be improved from the poor economic condition under the Uttarakhand widow pension scheme.

Eligibility Criteria

The applicant should be a widow and a resident of the State of Uttarakhand. The minimum age of applicant for joining the scheme is 18 years, and the maximum is 60 years and must belong to the Below Poverty Line (BPO). Besides, her monthly income should not exceed Rs. 4,000.

Required Documents

Please find attached the following documents to apply for the scheme:

  • Aadhaar Card
  • Income certificate
  • Below Poverty Line (BPL) ration card
  • Death certificate of husband
  • Bank account details
  • Passport size photo

Application Procedure

The eligible applicant can apply for the scheme through the following steps:

Step 1: Please visit the home page of Social Welfare Department

Step 2: Click on “Applications forms for various pension and grant schemes” option available to the right of the web portal.


Step 3: On the next page click on “Widow Pension” option and download the application form in a PDF format.

Step 4: Fill up the application form correctly and attach the required documents.

Step 5: Then submit the duly filled application form to the Social Welfare Department of Uttarakhand in concerned districts/Taluka.

Check Pension Status

The State Government of Uttarakhand has introduced an online facility to check the status of pension. Check your application status through the following steps as mentioned below:

Step 1: Please visit the State e-governance portal  Social Welfare Department of Uttarakhand

Step 2: Click on ” Know the status of your pension ” option available to the left of the web portal.


Step 3: Fill up the page where you have to enter the details such as pension plan and bank account number or mobile number. Then select “click” option.
