Aadhar & Ration Card Linking Online

The Government of India has directed the citizens to link the Aadhaar card with various vital documents such as Ration Card, Bank account details, PAN Card, Voter ID Card, and Mobile number. It has been made mandatory to ensure that the benefits from all the government schemes reach the people. In this article, we look at the procedure for linking Aadhaar to ration card.

Benefits of linking Aadhaar to ration card

Ration cards are the legal identity proof, used by many households to get the food grains and fuel at a subsidised rate. The main objective is to avoid the issuance of duplicate and multiple identities by digitising it and also to streamline the benefits attached to it.

Documents Required

While linking Aadhar to Ration Card requires the following document:

  • A copy of Aadhaar cards of all family members along with the originals for verification.
  • A copy of Ration card.
  • A copy of Bank Passbook (if Aadhaar not linked with the bank account)
  • Passport size photographs.

Steps for Aadhaar link to Ration Card Online

The applicants who want to link their Aadhaar card to ration card online, follow the steps below:

Step 1: The applicant must visit the official website of Aadhar seeding portal using this link.

Step 2: Enter the personal details and then enter the OTP received.

Step 3: Now, the applicant will be redirected to the Aadhar seeding application page. Click on the “Start Now” button.

Step 4: Enter all the personal details and select the Benefit Type from the options menu and select “Ration Card” as a scheme name.

Step 5: After giving all the details, click on the “Submit” button.

Step 6: Receive an OTP through the registered mobile number. Enter the OTP to process the request.

After the successful verification of the details, the applicant will receive a notification that your Aadhar card has been linked to the ration card.

Offline Procedure

The applicants who want to link their Aadhaar card to ration card offline, follow the steps below:

Step 1: The applicant must visit the nearest PDS centre or Ration Shop.

Step 2: Now, submit all the above mentioned required documents in the Public Distribution Shop (PDS) or Ration shop.

Step 3: On submission of documents will reach the appropriate department, and the applicant will be notified by an e-mail or SMS.

Step 4: Then the authorities will submit all the submitted documents, a notification will again be sent in respect of successful linking of Aadhaar card with the Ration card in the course of time.

How to Link Aadhaar with Ration Card through SMS?

Step 1:  The applicant need to type “UID SEED <State Short Code> <Scheme/Program Short Code> <Scheme/Program ID> <Aadhaar Number>” and then send it to “51969”. For example: UID SEED MH POSC 9876543 123478789012.

Step 2: Finally, the application will receive the notifications providing the receipt of the information, successful verification and successful linking of Aadhaar card with Ration card.
