Recently, through the Income Tax department, the Finance Ministry of India has launched a new facility that provides instant PAN (on a near real-time basis) allotment based on the Aadhaar number. Every individual with a valid Aadhaar Number can use the instant PAN card apply facility. However, it is important that the applicant's mobile number is registered with the database of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). Minors cannot use the instant e PAN card apply with aadhaar facility. In simple terms, the instant pan card apply facility can be availed only if the applicant satisfies the following conditions:- The applicant should have a valid Aadhaar Number.
- The applicant's Aadhaar number should not be linked to any other PAN.
- The applicant should have a mobile number registered with the Aadhaar.
Procedure
The applicant needs to follow the below steps for an Instant PAN card apply through Aadhaar facility: Step 1: Visit official Income Tax website. Step 2: Click the ‘Instant PAN through Aadhaar’ icon on the left-hand side under Quick Links. Step 3: Click on the ‘Get New PAN’ icon. Step 4: Enter the Aadhaar number. Step 5: Enter the Captcha. Step 6: Click on ‘I Confirm that’ (please note that you confirm the points mentioned therein) by clicking the same. Step 7: Click on ‘Generate Aadhaar OTP’. A One-Time Password will be sent to the registered mobile number. Step 8: Enter the OTP received. Step 9: Validate the Aadhaar details. On successful submission of all the details, an acknowledgement number will be generated and sent to the registered mobile number and e-mail ID. After completed the process of instant e PAN card apply with aadhaar. The applicant needs to follow the below steps to check the status or download the allotted PAN: Step 1: Visit site https://www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/home. Step 2: Click the ‘Instant PAN through Aadhaar’ icon on the left-hand side under Quick Links. Step 3: Click the ‘Check Status / Download PAN’ icon. Step 4: Enter your Aadhaar number. Step 5: Enter Captcha and click submit. If the PAN is allotted, it can be downloaded by following the above steps. The applicant would also receive the PAN in PDF format through e-mail ID (if registered with UIDAI). It should importantly be noted here that the e-PAN so received would contain a QR code with demographic details of the applicant, such as the applicant's name, date of birth, and photograph of the applicant. Such details are accessible through a QR code reader. Noticeably, such e-PAN is a valid proof of PAN. It is similar to PAN, issued by the Income Tax department through other modes.
