A marriage certificate is an official record provided by the Government that certifies two people are married under a relevant Act. Marriages that are solemnized in the State of Uttarakhand are to be compulsory registered under the Marriage Registration Act, 2010. Reasons for Obtaining a Marriage Certificate

It is mandatory to register the marriage under the law to prevent marriage frauds, child marriages, bigamy and desertions of women by their husbands and it also serves as a proof for applying for a passport and helps in claiming bank deposits, in case of demise of a partner.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for a marriage certificate in the state of Uttarakhand, the applicant needs to satisfy the following eligibility conditions:

  • The bride should be 18 years and above.
  • The groom must be and 21 years of age and above.
  • The applicant needs to be a permanent resident of Uttarakhand.

Government Fee

The applicable charges for marriage registration are listed out:

Application fee

  • The applicant has to possess a fee of Rs.100/- if marriage registered within ninety days from the date of marriage.
  • The applicant has to possess a fee of Rs.200/- if marriage registered after ninety days from the date of marriage.
  • For receiving a copy of the marriage certificate, the applicant has to remit a fee of Rs.50 per copy.

Application for Certified Copy

  • Application for certified copy a court fee of Re. 1/- shall be affixed to it, and Rs. 10/- stamp fee shall be payable.
  • For an ordinary copy, the fee payable shall be Rs 25/-, the copy shall be provided within a week.
  • For urgent copy- Rs. 50/- will charge, and it shall be issued within three days.

Inspection Fee for Marriage Certificate in Uttarakhand

In case of an entry for the current year, the fee shall be Rs. 25/- and Rs. 50/- if the entry is for previous year plus Rs. 10/- extra for every previous year.

Online Marriage Registration Procedure

To register for a marriage certificate in Uttarakhand, follow the steps specified here.

Step 1: The applicant has to visit the official website of the Uttarakhand government.

Step 2: Click on ” Online New Compulsory Application” menu, which is visible on the home page of the portal.

Step 3: The applicant has to login by entering the required details.

Step 4: On the next page, the online marriage application form appears on the screen.

Step 5: Fill the form with desired details and click on “Next” option.

Step 6: After clicking on next, the form will appear to fill the information regarding bride and groom details.

Step 7: Click on “Next” button after filling the mentioned details.

Step 8: Now, the user needs to fill up the two witness details and then click on the “Next” button.

Step 9: Then, the form for the certificate will appear on the next page.
