Mukhya Mantri Vivah Shagun Yojana
Welfare of Scheduled Caste and Backward Classes Department, Government of Haryana has introduced Mukhya Mantri Vivah Shagun Yojana to honour the girl child and to ensure that the girls from poor families are married gracefully. For this purpose, a grant is given to the eligible persons for the celebration of marriage of their daughters under this Yojana. Objective of MVSY
Key objective of Mukhya Mantri Vivah Shagun Yojana is to provide financial assistance on the occasion of marriage of daughters of Scheduled Caste, Denotified Tribes and other section of society living below the poverty line. Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini Viwah Shagun Yojana was renamed as Mukhya Mantri Vivah Shgaun Yojana in the year 2015.

MVSY Grant for beneficiaries
Government of Haryana provides grant to all eligible beneficiaries under Mukhya Mantri Vivah Shagun Yojana, details are given below.
Grant for Widows
Under this scheme, Government provides a grant of Rs.51000 to widows whose annual income is less than 1 lakh per annum. Out of this an amount of Rs. 46000 will be paid on or before the marriage of daughter and remaining Rs.5000 will on submission of marriage registration certificate.
Marriage certificate need to be furnished within 6 months from celebration of marriage, no balance amount will be paid if marriage registration certificate is not submitted within the period.
Grant for SC/DT family
Mukhya Mantri Vivah Shagun Yojana Grant for SC/DT family is Rs.410000. This is only applicable for families living below poverty line; annual income of the family should be less than 1 lakh.
Out of this total amount, an amount of Rs. 36000 will be paid on or before celebration of marriage and amount of Rs. 5000 is to be paid within 6 months on submission of marriage registration certificate.
Grant for divorced & destitute women
Government provides grant of Rs.41000 to divorced &destitute women who living below poverty line and whose annual income should be less than 1 lakh. Grant will be given in two instalments as Rs. 36000 for marriage celebration and remaining Rs.5000 will be paid on submission of marriage certificate with in 6 month.
Grant for orphan and destitute children
A grant of Rs. 41000 will provided to orphan and destitute children whose annual income of the family is less than 1 lakh. Under this scheme, grant will be providing in two instalments as before marriage Rs.36000 and after marriage Rs.5000. After marriage, beneficiary needs to provide marriage certificate to get reaming amount.
Grant for BPL family
A grant of Rs. 11000 will be provided to the persons of all sections of society living below poverty line other than SC and including BC. It is applicable only to the family having less than 2.5 acres of land or whose family annual income is less than Rs. 100000 per annum.
Out of this grant an amount of Rs.10000 will be paid on or before date of celebration of marriage and remaining amount of Rs.1000 will be paid within 6 months on submission of marriage registration certificate. If marriage registration certificate is not submitted within 6 months, no balance amount will be paid.
Grant for Sports
Government provides a grant of Rs.31000 to sports woman. It is applicable for all caste and no condition for annual income of the family.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility criteria to obtain Mukhya Mantri Vivah Shagun Yojana benefits are listed below.
- Applicant should be a domicile of Haryana
- Bride age should be 18 years or above
- Age of groom should be 21 years or above
- Benefit will provided up to marriage of 2 daughter in a family
- Widow or divorce woman can take benefit for her own marriage provided that she has not taken this benefit earlier.
- Name of the applicant should be in the below poverty line (BPL) list.

- Divorce orders in case of divorced women
Approval Authority
Applicant need to submit his/her application form one month before the date of marriage. If the application submitted after the date of marriage celebration, the competent authorities for the sanction of Shagun in such cases are given below.
- Up to one month from date of marriage – District Welfare Officer.
- 2 to 3 month from date of marriage – Deputy Commissioner
- 4 to 6 month from date of marriage – Concerned Divisional Commissioner
Applying for Mukhya Mantri Vivah Shagun Yojana
The procedure to apply for Mukhya Mantri Vivah Shagun Yojana grant is explained in step by step procedure here.
Step 1: The parents (beneficiary) seeking this grant will have to submit an application form in a prescribed format along with all documents (refer above) to the concerned Tehsil Welfare Officer or District Welfare Officer.

Note: The application need to be submitted before 1 month of marriage celebration. The applicant can also apply before marriage within 6 months from date of celebration and no application will be processed after six months from the date of marriage.
Step 2: The District Welfare Office after completing the required formalities will submit the case to the concerned Deputy Commissioner who would be the sanctioning authority under this scheme.
Step 3: The amount will be drawn by the District Welfare Officer concerned from Treasury and disburse to the applicant to Bank account before the marriage of daughter.
Step 4: After the celebration of marriage, a certificate will be submitted by the beneficiary in the prescribed format confirming that the marriage has actually taken place.
Mukhya Mantri Vivah Shagun Yojana Marriage Form
In case marriage completion certificate is not submitted within one month from the date of marriage celebration, the District Welfare Officer will submit the case to Deputy Commissioner.
As per the guidance of Deputy Commissioner, Grant will be liable to be refunded or amount will be recovered as arrears of land revenue.
