The Andhra Pradesh government has announced a scheme for farmers called YSR Rythu Bharosa Scheme. The government has advanced the implementation of this scheme to the farmers which was originally scheduled to launch by October 2019. Let us have a look on YSR Rythu Bharosa in this article.
The following are the key points of the YSR Rythu Bharosa Scheme:
- Estimated at Rs.10,625 crores, the YSR Rythu Bharosa scheme will give assistance of Rs. 50,000 to farmers owning up to 5 acres of land.
- For 4 years, farmers who own land will be given Rs.12,500 as aid before the start of the sowing season. (Rabi and Kharif seasons)
- The scheme will also give total assistance of Rs.2500 crore to tenant farmers.
- The main feature of the scheme is that the money will be directly deposited in the farmer’s bank account doing away with all middlemen and avoiding the pitfalls of corruption of any kind in the disbursement of funds.
- There will also be free power supply during the day for 9 hours.
- Borewell digging will be free of cost for all farmers. About 200 borewell drill rigs will be provided for every Assembly and Parliamentary constituencies.
There are many other aids give to farmers under the YSR Rythu Bharosa Scheme:
- Cold storage and Warehouses will be built in all 175 assembly constituencies of the state.
- The farmers will also be helped under the natural disaster fund.
- Pending irrigation projects will be completed.
- Milk dairies will be reopened and a subsidy of Rs 4 per litre will be given for the milk contributor.
- Insurance facilities will be provided – Rs 5 Lakhs will be given to a farmers’ family upon death of the farmer.
- There will be no road tax for farmer’s tractors.
- Aqua farmers will get a subsidy of Rs 1.50 per unit on power consumption.
Prices in Market will be stabilized with a Price stabilization Fund of Rs. 3000 crores. This is to check market price fluctuations and ensuring the farmers get a minimum support price. The minimum support prices will be announced before every crop season – Rabi and Kharif.
Moreover, the insurance premium for all farmers under the crop insurance scheme will also be paid by the Andhra Pradesh Government. Also, the government will take a strong action against sale of spurious seeds in the market. The principal advisor of the Chief Minister has been put in charge of reviewing various old schemes in order to improve their impact and efficiency. Also, the issue of fund diversion in various schemes will be looked into.
