Aadhaar Data Update

An Aadhaar Data Update form can be used when an Indian resident wants to update any of the details in his/her Aadhaar card. The details captured on the Aadhaar card of every resident are recorded in the UIDAI system.

It is necessary for the Aadhaar cardholders to keep their details updated whenever there are biometric or demographic changes as they get saved in the Central Identities Data Repository (CIDR). In this article, we look at the process for updating Aadhar card details.

Aadhaar Card Details Update

The UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) enables the Aadhaar card holders to correct or update their demographic details on the authority’s database. The biometric data can only be updated at an enrolment centre.

Demographic information Biometric information
Name, Address, Date of Birth/Age, e-mail Address, Gender, Mobile Number, Relationship Status and Information Sharing Consent. Iris, Finger Prints and Facial Photograph.

Required Documents

The following documents are accepted by the UIDAI for the purpose of verifying, updating or correcting information in the Aadhaar Card.

  • Proof of Identification:- An identity documents that includes Ration/PDS Photo Card, PAN Card, Passport, Driving license, etc.
  • Proof of Address:- The address proof documents that include Bank Account details/Passbook, Electricity bill, water bill and telephone, Property Tax receipt, Credit Card statement, etc.
  • Proof of Date of Birth:- The documents accepted for the proof of identity that includes Birth Certificate, Mark sheet issued by any Government Board or University, PAN card, etc.

Aadhar Data Update Charges

Method of updating or correcting Aadhar details through online and via post can be done free of cost. If done at the enrollment centre for the correction/update, the applicant will be charged a fee of Rs. 25/-.

Turnaround Time

The processing time for the updates or corrections in the Aadhar card will take 7-10 days after the request.

Methods for Updating Aadhaar Card Details

The residents can update or correct their Aadhar card details via 3 modes:

  1. Update Data Online
  2. Update Data via Post
  3. Visiting nearby Enrolment Centre

These are the modes where residents place their demographic/biometric update request.

Update Data Online

The applicants have to follow the given steps to update or make corrections to the Aadhar card by submitting their request online.

Access Self Service Update Portal (SSUP)

Step 1: Applicants has to visit the official site of Aadhar Self Service Update Portal (SSUP) to update or correct their Aadhar details from the portal.

Login to the portal

Step 2:  Using Aadhaar number or registered mobile number of the resident are required to log in to the portal. After that, enter the Text Verification and click on the “Send OTP” option.

Step 3: Enter the OTP with the Captcha code and click on “Submit” option.

Step 4:  After submitting, it will get directed to a new page which is “Data Request Page”. Now you need to select the field where the changes must be done.

Upload Requested Documents

Step 5: Then you have to attach the specified documents in the portal. Ensure to scan (with a colour scanner) and upload the proof of the changed details that has been updated.

Step 6: The documents will be verified against the requested data by a Verifier of UIDAI’s Update back-office.

Provide Details

Step 7: Then you have to fill out the data in the selected fields.

Step 8: After filling the details and double check on the accuracy of the information as it will get reflected in the new Aadhaar card.

Step 9: A URN (Update Request Number) will be generated through which the Aadhaar card update process can be tracked or verified by the applicant.

Step 10: You can drop the receipt or download a copy containing the URN. Once updated, you can download the updated Aadhar card and print it. The updated Aadhaar card will be mailed to the registered address.

Updating Aadhar Details via Post

The applicants can also send a request via post to update or make corrections in their Aadhar card. The applicant has to follow the given steps to complete the process.

Fill the Required Details

Step 2: You have to fill the required details which you want to change in your Aadhaar card.

Attach Documents

Step 3: You will have to submit the photocopies of the documents that validate the changes requested to be made in the form.

Visiting Nearby Enrolment Centre

Get Application Form

Step 1: Aadhaar data update form has to be filled by the applicant.

Step 2: Ensure to give the correct details in the application form.

Provide self-attested proofs

Step 3: You have to provide the self-attested proofs to support the changes as per your request.

Step 4: After that, submit the form and the relevant document proofs to the Executive in the centre.

End of Process

Step 5: The Enrolment Centres will charge Rs. 25/- for every such visit towards the correction of details like biometric data or Demographic information such as mobile numbers, address, photo etc.

Note: Children those who are of 5 years old must visit the Aadhaar enrolment centre to submit their biometric data. After 15 years of age, they must revisit an enrolment centre to provide their biometric data. This biometric data is considered as the final one which remains with your Aadhaar for a lifetime.

Track/Check Application Status

You can also track/verify your application status online via Self Service Update Portal (SSUP). Provide your Aadhar number; URN number received SRN number along with the text verification. Then you have to click on the get status button. The status of your Aadhar data update will be displayed on the screen.
