Ration card is a document that serves as a proof of identity not only for the head of the family but also for the entire household. It enables the household to obtain subsidized food commodities such as food grains, sugar, kerosene, fertilisers, etc. Also, ration cards enable the State Government of Manipur to implement the Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS) efficiently. In this article, we look at the eligibility, required documents and application procedure of Manipur ration card in detail.
Types of Ration Card in Manipur
Above Poverty Line (APL): This type of ration card is issued to the people living above the poverty line. However, these cardholders are not applicable for grains.
Below Poverty Line (BPL): This type of ration card is issued to the people living below the poverty line. These cardholders are eligible for getting food and grains at affordable prices.
Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) Cards: This type of ration card is issued to the economically weakest section of the societies, which means that people with monthly income are unstable.
Eligibility criteria to apply for ration card in Manipur is below:
- The applicant should be a resident of the State of Manipur
- The applicant must not be in possession of a ration card.
- Couples who recently got married in Manipur can also apply.
While applying for the ration card, submit the following documents:
- Passport size photo
- Address proof
- Driving license
- Income certificate
In Case of Transfer
In the case of transfer of Ration Card, the applicant should have prepared the certificate of cancellation of the last ration card from the issuing authority with a ration card application form.
For Addition of Member in Ration Card
To add a child’s name to the existing ration card requires a photocopy of the child’s birth certificate, whose name is being added.
Time Frame for Disposal of Ration Card
- Issue of new ration card: Approximately 30 days
- Adding members to ration card: 10 days
- Member deletion in ration card: 10 days
- For changing the address: 10 days
Step 1: Visit the home page of Manipur Jewel of India and click on “Online Services ” option.
Step 2: Click on “Application for Issue of New Ration Card” option.
Step 3: On the next page, click on the ” Apply” option and select “Registered user, click here” option. If not a registered user, then click on ” New user click here ” option.
Note:- For filling up the ration card offline, register under the State Portal of Manipur. Visit the office of the Department of Food and Civil Supply to collect the application form. Fill up the application form correctly and submit it to the concerned authorities along with the required documents in the same office. Also, the applicant will receive the reference number to check your application status online.
Step 1: Visit the home page Department of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution of Manipur.
Step 2: Click on “Others” option and select ” Ration Card Search” which redirect to the next page where the applicant should select “Search your Ration Card Application.”
Step 3: Then click on ” Ration Card Application Status for Modification Requests ” option.
Step 4: Enter the application reference number in the web portal then check your application status.
