Uses of Property Tax

In Rajasthan, Property Tax is one of the primary revenue sources for Municipal Corporations. All residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, government properties and vacant lands situated within the limits of the Municipal Corporation are assessed for tax and are expected to pay Property Tax. Property Tax is imposed on every year of the same month, and a citizen is liable is file return on the same day.

Eligibility Criteria

  • A person whose age is above 18 years of age.
  • An individual who is a permanent resident in the state of Rajasthan.
  • Any person who owns a property in Rajasthan is entitled to pay a property tax.

Exemption on Property Tax

An individual who is exempted from paying property tax are listed below:

  • The land or property maintained by the Devasthan Department of the State Government.
  • Any land or property used for public worship or public purpose.
  • Land hold for the purposes connected with the disposal of dead bodies.
  • Land utilised by an educational institution solely for purposes of education.
  • Land for the cause of public parks public libraries or public museums.

 Registration of Property Owners

The person who is liable to pay tax for their property has to make an application in the designated form to the assessing authority and also along with the amount of fifty rupees for the registration fee to the state government.

The assessing authority after verification when satisfied with the application proposed and payment made for registration will give a certificate of registration to the property owner in the prescribed form.

Required Document

The applicant will be expected to submit the property tax invoice details at the time of making payment for property tax.

Online Property Tax Payment Procedure

To make an online payment for property tax in the state of Rajasthan, follow the steps mentioned below:

Visit Official Portal

Step 1: The applicant should visit the official portal of Urban Local bodies of Rajasthan.

Step 2: Click on “Citizen services” tab which is present on the homepage of the portal.

Step 3: Select “UD Tax” from the list of services displayed as shown below.

User Registration

Step 4: Then you will be redirected to the login page if you are a registered user the applicant can be able to login with the existing details.

Step 5: If not registered user, the applicant has to click on “Register now”  then the new user registration page will open up.

Step 6: Enter the appropriate details such as name, password, email id, mobile number, address and click on “Save” button.

Provide Login Details

Step 7: Then you will be redirected to the login page now enter the login details and press the “Login” tab.

Step 8: On the next page, new property registration will appear where the applicant needs to provide relevant details of the property and click on the “Save”  button.

Step 9: You have to select the payment mode for property tax which is displayed below.

Step 10: Then the online payment mode screen will display where the applicant needs to give property tax bill details to make payment online.

Receive Application Number

Step 11: After making payment the application number is generated for further reverence.

Step 12: The applicant can check the status of the property tax details with the help of the application number.

Step 13: If the status is approved the user can create the new bill by clicking on “New bill “ link.

Offline Property Tax Payment Procedure

To make an offline payment for property tax in the state of Rajasthan, follow the steps mentioned below:

Approach Municipal Corporation Office

Step 1: The applicant has to approach a nearby municipal corporation in the area.

Submit Property Tax Invoice Details

Step 2: Submit the property tax invoice details to the concerned authority of the municipal corporation office.

Make Payment

Step 3: Then, make payments in the cash counter as per the estimated amount of your property.

Acknowledgement Receipt

Step 4: The applicant will get an acknowledgement for the payment of property tax for further reference.

Collect Property Tax Bill

Step 5: After verification, the applicant can collect his property tax bill from the same office.

Penalty for Not Paying Tax

If a taxpayer refuses to pay the tax within the specified time limit, the assessing authority may impose a penalty which will not be more than one thousand rupees.
