Tripura Ration Card
Ration card is a multi-purpose legal document issued by State Governments. It is advisable for all residents of the State to hold ration card to avail subsidized food commodities. Ration card enables the cardholder under the Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS) to procure subsidized items such as rice, wheat, sugar, kerosene, fertilizers, LPG, etc. In this article, we look at the procedure for obtaining Tripura ration card in detail.
Purpose of Ration Card
Ration card is an essential document, and also is considered as an identity proof of the entire family and further serves as a proof of residence.
Types of Ration Card in Tripura
The applicant can apply three kinds of ration cards in Tripura.
APL Cards: The State Government will issue Above Poverty Line (APL) Ration Cards to families with income above the poverty line index.
BPL Cards: The State Government will issue Below Poverty Line Ration (BPL) Cards to the families with annual income less than that specified in the poverty index.
AAY Cards: Antyodaya Anna Yojana Cards are issued to families those who meet special conditions. This card allows the family to have the highest level of subsidy rates.
Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria are based on the economic status of the beneficiary’s family. The applicant needs to satisfy the below criteria laid down by the Government of Tripura.
- The applicant should be a resident of the Tripura State.
- The applicant must not possess another ration card.
Link Aadhaar with Ration Card
Aadhaar linking with Ration card would help in maintaining transparency in the Public Distribution System (PDS) network. The primary objective of linking Aadhar with Ration card is to avoid the issuance of duplicate and multiple identities by digitizing it and also to streamline the benefits attached to it. Linking of Ration Cards with Aadhaar would facilitate in ensuring correct targeting of the beneficiaries for distribution of subsidized food grains or cash transfer of food subsidies under NFSA ( National Food Security Act, 2013)
Required Documents
In Tripura, the following documents, along with the application form, are important while applying for a new ration card:
- Address Proof
- Passport size photograph of family members
- Deletion Certificate
- An affidavit is required to prove that the applicant was not holding any ration card previously.
- Aadhar Card
- Voter ID
- Income Certificate
- Driving License
- Bank passbook details
Application Procedure
Step 1: The applicant should visit the office of the Department of Food and Civil Supply and Consumer Affairs and the Sub – Divisional Magistrates where the applicant collect the application form or download the application attached below.

Application Status
Step 1: To know your application status, the applicant should visit the home page of Directorate of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Government of Tripura
Step 2: Click on “Others” option and select “Ration Card Search” option.
Step 3: On the next window, click on the ” Click here to search for your Ration Card Application ” option.
Step 4: Then click on “Ration card Application Status for other Requests” option.
Step 5: Now, enter your application reference number in the portal, then you can check your application status.
