Haryana Marriage Registration Certificate

In Haryana, it is mandatory to register a marriage under the Haryana Compulsory Registration of Marriage Act, 2008. The marriage certificate is the legal proof of registration of a marriage. The need for a Marriage Certificate arises in case of need to prove that a person is legally married to someone. Also, the marriage certificate is required in obtaining a passport, changing your maiden name, etc. In this article, we look at the guidelines for obtaining the Haryana marriage certificate in detail.

Eligibility Criteria

In Haryana, to obtain a marriage registration certificate, the following criteria must be fulfilled:

  • The bride and groom should not be less than 18 and 21 years of age, respectively.
  • At the time of marriage registration, there should not be more than one spouse of any of the parties.
  • The bride and groom must have lived for at least one month in the district where marriage is to be registered.

Documents Required

At the time of submitting the application form furnish the application form:

  • Proof of Marriage
  • Proof of date of birth of Bride and Bridegroom
  • Residence Proof of Bride and Bridegroom
  • Photograph of both parties
  • Marriage Invitation Card
  • Marriage Photograph (Couple Photograph)

Fee for Marriage Registration

The fee structure for the registration of marriage is in the below table:

Application submitted within 90 days from the Date of Marriage Rs.150/-
Application submitted after 90 days but within one year from marriage’s date Rs.350/-
Application submitted after 1 year Rs.300/-

Online Application Procedure for Marriage Registration

The applicant must follow the below-given procedure to obtain the Haryana Marriage Certificate online.

Step 1: The applicant must visit the official website of Haryana.

Step 2: Click on the “Application for Marriage Registration” option under the Online services menu.

Step 3: Now click on the “Click here to apply” button on the application for marriage certificate page.

Step 4: On the next page, the marriage registration application form appears. The online application form will be displayed as below:

Step 5: Now fill all the required details in the application form. Also, select the mode of payment and make the prescribed payment online.

Step 6: After filling the application form successfully, click on the “Save” button.

Step 7: Now, the applicant will be receiving a submission acknowledgement with a Transaction ID. The applicant can print a copy of the submission acknowledgement.

Offline Procedure

The application can be downloaded from the official website of Haryana Government portal, as shown below:

The applicant has to approach the registrar of marriages in Municipal Corporation in the area where the marriage is solemnized. Submit the application along with the required documents and with the prescribed fee in the office of the registrar of marriages on any working day.

Downloading Marriage Registration Certificate

The applicant may download the marriage certificate online by clicking on the “Online Status” option on the home page. Then enter the transaction ID and verification code. Then click on the download link to get your marriage registration certificate.
