Citizens of Chhattisgarh need to obtain a caste certificate to avail the various kinds of facilities offered by the Governments that are targeted at a certain category of persons. In Chhattisgarh, caste certificates provide certain privileges to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, in order to bring equality among the entire citizens the State Revenue Department issues it. - To avail quotas in educational institutions.
- Caste certificate is necessary to apply for scholarships.
- To obtain Government subsidies, caste certificate is needed.
- To get upper age relaxation limits while applying for certain jobs.
- To get a loan for education, house or business under the Government and Non-Government schemes.
Eligibility Criteria
The applicant needs to satisfy the below criteria laid down by the Government of Chhattisgarh to obtain caste certificate.- The applicant should be a citizen of the Chhattisgarh state.
- Any citizen can apply for the caste certificate if he/she belongs to a backward community like Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Categories (OBC).
Documents Required for Caste Certificate
All documents must have attested by any of the government department working gazetted officer. The below following are the required documents that need to be furnished for obtaining Chhattisgarh caste certificate.- An application Form
- Copy of Ration Card / Copy of Voter Card / Name in the Voter List (one of them)
- A report regarding caste Patwari / Sarpanch
- Income report
- Aadhaar Card
- Residence Proof
- Caste / religion report
- School leaving certificate/ transfer certificate
- In the case of Women caste certificate before marriage
- Passport Size Photograph
Fee Details
The applicant has to remit a fee of Rs. 30 to procure the certificate in Chhattisgarh.Processing Time
The applicant can collect the certificate only after 15 days from the date of application.Concerned Authority
This service has been provided through the Sub Divisional Magistrate of the state, tehsildar or else the citizens can also get it by visiting the revenue department offices of their local area. The applicant can collect the caste certificate from the nearest choice centre.Application Procedure
The applicants can apply for the Chhattisgarh Caste Certificate (Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Castes / Other Backward Class) either in offline or online mode.Application Procedure - Offline
To obtain a caste certificate in Chhattisgarh, follow the procedure given below: Step 1: The applicants can approach the concerned State Revenue Department to avail the application form for the caste certificate, or can get it via choice centre. Note: Also download the application form for caste certificate in PDF format online. The application form is below for the reference: Step 2: Fill in the application form with all the mandatory details. Step 3: Then the duly filled application form along with the prescribed documents, should be submitted to the concerned authority in the Tehsil office, sub-divisional magistrate office or choice centre. Step 4: Now pay the fee of Rs.30 in the office. After submitting the application form, collect the acknowledgement receipt that can be used later to check the status of the application form. Step 5: Once the application is successfully processed, the certificate can be obtained from the concerned office where the application was submitted.Application Procedure - Online
The applicant must follow the below-given procedure to apply for the Chhattisgarh caste certificate online. Step 1: The applicant must visit the official e-District portal of Chhattisgarh to apply for caste certificate. Step 2: Select ‘certificate services’ from the menu bar on the homepage. Status of Application
The applicant will be notified about the status of the application via SMS to their registered mobile number. Also, verify the application status online by visiting the official e-District portal of Chhattisgarh. Now provide the application number and click on the search button. Then the status of the application is visible on the screen. On approving the application, the applicant can download Chhattisgarh Caste Certificate from the e-district portal.
