Ration card is still considered to be an important legal document that used for identity and address verification. Originally ration card was used to get household requirements at a subsidized price so that all people could benefit from Government Schemes. However, most Government Entities accept ration card as an identity or address proof while applying for various services. Hence, it is recommended that all families obtain a ration card at a convenient time. In this article, we look at Andhra Pradesh Ration Card in detail along with the procedure for ration card application.

Types of Ration Card in Andhra Pradesh

In Andhra Pradesh, there are two types of ration cards as of under:

  • White Ration Cards
  • Pink Ration Cards

White Ration Cards

The white ration cards are for people who fall under the poverty line. Persons having white ration card can obtain supplies at subsidized cost from the Government.

Pink Ration Cards

The pink ration cards are for the people who are above the poverty line. Persons having pink ration card cannot purchase rations at a subsidized cost.

Ration Card Application Procedure

The applicant can submit Andhra Pradesh Ration Card application online or offline as below.

Offline Method

Step 1: Visit Nearest Ration Office

The applicant has to go to the nearest Ration Office to get the D1 application form. A copy of the application form can also be downloaded from the link below:

  • Along with the above application, the applicant must submit:
  • Identity Proof Documents
  • Address Proof Documents
  • Photos

Step 2: Complete Ration Application Form

The applicant has to fill in all the details of the family members correctly without any errors. There should not be any overwriting, and the applicant needs to have all the documents before entering the details.

Step 3: Submit the Ration Card Application

After filling in the form, submit the form to the Ration Card office. The applicant then has to get a receipt from the office to complete the process. On receipt of the application, the issuance of ration card will take place in Smart Card format within 2-3 weeks.

Online Method

Step 1: Visit Meeseva

The applicant has to log on to the official website http://ap.meeseva.gov.in in the Mee Seva portal of Government of Andhra Pradesh.

Step 2: Create an Account

The applicant has to create an account if he or she has not previously registered. For this, the name, login identification username, E-mail ID, gender, residential address, city, and aadhaar number has to be entered. After entering all the details correctly, the account is created.

Step 3: Fill in the Application

After creating the account, log in using the Login ID and password. An application appears, and the applicant needs to have all the important documents. The applicant has to fill up without any errors with all the details of the family.

Step 4: Submit the application

After entering all the details, the applicant can submit the form by clicking on the submit option.

Step 5: Takedown transaction numbers

The applicant, after submitting the form, receives transaction numbers which confirm the completion of the process. However, the applicant has to note the number to make any inquiries in the future.

E-Ration Cards

The Andhra Pradesh government has introduced E-Ration Cards through EPDS (Electronic Public Distribution System) so that the public would find it very convenient to access civil supply services. Users can check the rates and availability of the grains online through the EPDS platform.
