Purpose of Domicile Certificate

Domicile certificate allows the person to avail various benefits as below:

  • To utilize the resident reservation quota in educational institutes.
  • To apply for the resident quota reservation in Government services.
  • To avail the proof of residence in the state.

Eligibility Criteria

The following are the eligibility criteria to obtain a domicile certificate from the Punjab Government:

  • The applicant must be a permanent resident of Punjab.
  • Women who may not belong to the state by birth, but married to a permanent resident of the state.

Online Application Procedure

To register for domicile certificate, follow the steps given below

Step 1: The applicant has to visit the Government website of Punjab. Step 2: Click on "Citizen login" on the home page of the portal. Step 3:  On the 'Next' page, choose "Resident certificate" from the list of services. Step 4: Then, click on the "Apply online" option, which can be found below the residence certificate. Step 5: Fill the form with required details and attach the scanned documents. Step 6: Finally, click on 'Submit' to save your application online. Note: After submitting your application, the applicant will receive an acknowledgement number to track your application status online. The certificate will be issued within seven working days from the date of application. The certificate once issued is valid for a lifetime. Hence there is no need for renewal.
