Ration card is a multi-purpose legal document issued by the State Governments in India to households. Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs of the State Government of Mizoram issues ration card to the residents of Mizoram. The important benefit of ration card is that it enables the cardholder to procure all subsidized food commodities provided by the State Government of Mizoram. In this article, we look at the procedure for obtaining Mizoram ration card in detail.
Types of Ration Card in Mizoram
The applicant can apply three kinds of ration cards in Mizoram.
APL Cards: The families with income above the poverty line index can hold the Above Poverty Line (APL) Ration Cards, which is in blue colour.
BPL Cards: The families with annual income less than that specified poverty index will hold Below Poverty Line Ration Cards in the yellow colour. Besides, special subsidies are given for BPL cards.
AAY Cards: Antyodaya Anna Yojana Cards are issued in the pink colour cover which is allocated to families those who meet special conditions. This card allows the family to have the highest level of subsidy rates.
Benefits of Ration Card
The primary objective of the ration card is to provide food commodities such as grains, kerosene, and LPG at subsidized prices. This card is provided based on the APL, AAY and BPL so people in all class will be benefited. The National and International market’s food commodity prices are increasing massively, but this card enables people to obtain essential food commodities at affordable prices.
Besides, this card can be linked with the Aadhaar Card, which will make your card details safe and avoid the fraudulent cards in circulation.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility criteria to apply for new Mizoram ration card are as follows:
- The applicant should be a resident of the State of Mizoram
- The applicant must not be in possession of a ration card
- Holders of temporary ration cards or past cards expired can apply for new rotation card
- Couples who have recently got married in Mizoram can apply
Required Documents
While applying for the Mizoram ration card, produce the following documents along with the application:
- Address Proof – Water, Electricity or Telephone Bill
- Photograph of Family Head
- Aadhar Card,
- Voter ID
- Income Certificate
- Driving License
Application Procedure
Step 1: Visit the home page Directorate of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs of Mizoram.
Step 2: Move the cursor to the option “Ration Cards” and click on “Forms” option.
Step 3: Then click on the “Application Forms” option will redirect to the next window where the applicant should click on “Application Form” and download the application in a PDF format.
Step 4: Take a print out and fill up the application with the required information and then visit the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs office and submit your application form to the concerned authorities along with the necessary documents.
Mizoram Ration CardThe applicant can collect the ration card within 15 to 30 working days from the date of application.
