Eligibility
Every individual with a valid Aadhaar Number can use the instant PAN card apply facility. However, it is important that the applicant's mobile number is registered with the database of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). Minors cannot use the instant e PAN card apply with aadhaar facility.
In simple terms, the instant pan card apply facility can be availed only if the applicant satisfies the following conditions:
- The applicant should have a valid Aadhaar Number.
- The applicant's Aadhaar number should not be linked to any other PAN.
- The applicant should have a mobile number registered with the Aadhaar.

Procedure
The applicant needs to follow the below steps for an Instant PAN card apply through Aadhaar facility:
Step 1: Visit official Income Tax website.
Step 2: Click the ‘Instant PAN through Aadhaar’ icon on the left-hand side under Quick Links.
Step 3: Click on the ‘Get New PAN’ icon.
Step 4:Â Enter the Aadhaar number.
Step 5:Â Enter the Captcha.
Step 6: Click on ‘I Confirm that’ (please note that you confirm the points mentioned therein) by clicking the same.
Step 7: Click on ‘Generate Aadhaar OTP’. A One-Time Password will be sent to the registered mobile number.
Step 8:Â Enter the OTP received.
Step 9:Â Validate the Aadhaar details.
On successful submission of all the details, an acknowledgement number will be generated and sent to the registered mobile number and e-mail ID.

Download PAN Card
After completed the process of instant e PAN card apply with aadhaar. The applicant needs to follow the below steps to check the status or download the allotted PAN:
Step 1: Visit the Income tax e-filing website.
Step 2: Click the ‘Instant PAN through Aadhaar’ icon on the left-hand side under Quick Links.
Step 3: Click the ‘Check Status / Download PAN’ icon.
Step 4: Enter your Aadhaar number.
Step 5:Â Enter Captcha and click submit.
If the PAN is allotted, it can be downloaded by following the above steps. The applicant would also receive the PAN in PDF format through e-mail ID (if registered with UIDAI). It should importantly be noted here that the e-PAN so received would contain a QR code with demographic details of the applicant, such as the applicant's name, date of birth, and photograph of the applicant. Such details are accessible through a QR code reader. Noticeably, such e-PAN is a valid proof of PAN. It is similar to PAN, issued by the Income Tax department through other modes.

General scheme of Instant PAN allotment
For people who have a valid Aadhaar number, this option allows them to get an Instant PAN (in near-real time). Applicants receive their PAN in PDF format, which is free of charge.
The applicant must enter her or his valid Aadhaar number and submit the OTP sent to her or his registered mobile number. A 15-digit acknowledgment number is generated once the operation is completed. After submitting a request, the applicant can check the progress of the request at any time by entering a valid Aadhaar number, and after successful allotment, the applicant can download the PAN. A copy of the PAN will also be sent to the applicant's registered e-mail address in the Aadhaar database.
The following are the key features of this facility:
- The applicant must have a valid Aadhaar number that is unrelated to any other PAN.
- The applicant's cellphone number must be registered with Aadhaar.
- Applicants are not required to submit or upload any documents because this is a paperless process.
- There should be no other PAN on the applicant's record. Section 272B(1) of the Income-tax Act imposes a penalty for having more than one PAN.

- Fill in the blanks with your Aadhaar number, complete the captcha, and confirm.
- On the registered Aadhaar cellphone number, the applicant will receive an OTP; enter this OTP in the text field on the webpage.
- An acknowledgement number will be produced after the submission. Please keep this acknowledgment number on hand for future use.
- A message will be delivered to the applicant's registered mobile number and e-mail id upon successful completion (if registered in UIDAI & authenticated by OTP). The acknowledgement number is specified in this message.
How to download PAN after the process of instant PAN through aadhaar?

- Click the link- ‘Check Status of PAN’.
- Submit the Aadhaar number in the space provided, then submit the OTP sent to the Aadhaar registered mobile number.
- Check the status of application- whether PAN is allotted or not.
- If PAN is allotted, click on the download link to get a copy of the e-PAN pdf.
PAN and validity of PAN
- After the amendments to clause (c) in the Explanation that occurred after sub-section (8) of Section 139A of the Income Tax Act, 1961 and sub-rule (6) of Rule 114 of the Income Tax Rules, 1962, electronically issued and digitally signed ePAN is now a valid mode of issue of Permanent Account Number (PAN).
- In G.S.R 1128(E), dated 19/11/2018, the government revised sub-rule (6) of Rule 114 of the Income Tax Rules, 1962, to authorise the Pr. DGIT(S) to notify formats and standards, as well as the method for obtaining a PAN.
- In response to the notification dated November 19, 2018, the Directorate of Income-tax (Systems) issued notification 7/2018 on December 27, 2018, detailing the procedure, forms, and standards for the issuance of Permanent Account Numbers (PANs). As a result of this notice, electronically issued digitally signed e-PAN is now a valid method of PAN issuance.
- Enhanced QR codes containing demographic (Name, DOB, Father's Name) and biometric (scanned photo and signatures) information of PAN holders can be accessed and utilised for PAN verification in off-line mode. User agencies can access information from upgraded QR codes by downloading the free Android version of 'PAN QR Code Reader' from Google's 'Play store,' which can be installed on any Android phone.
