Eligibility

The following are the criteria of eligibility to obtain a Domicile Certificate.

  • The applicant's parents or guardian should be a permanent resident living more than 6 years in Tamil Nadu.
  • Women whose native is not Tamil Nadu, but are married to men who are a permanent resident in Tamil Nadu.

Application Procedure

To apply for Domicile Certificate, one has to follow the below procedure.

Step 1: Visit the Tahsildar's office or Apply Online  The applicant has to get the application form from a Sub-Divisional Magistrate or Tahsildar’s office or Revenue Department or District Collector’s Office, or any other authority. Obtain the application form for applying for domicile certificate. Step 2: Enter the Details The applicant has to enter the following details in the application form.
  • Name of the Applicant
  • Father or Husband’s Name
  • Gender
  • Residential address
  • Ration card number
  • Details of immovable property belonging to parents in TamilNadu
  • Date of application
  • Signature of the applicant

Step 3: Furnish Residence Proof The applicant then has to furnish the residence proof of Tamil Nadu for a particular time period. Step 4: Submission of the Form After completing the form, the applicant has to submit the form enclosing the required documents. The applicant receives the certificate 30 days from the date of submission of the application form.
