Andhra Pradesh Societies Registration Act, 2001 lays down the procedure for society registration and operation in Andhra Pradesh. Andhra Pradesh Societies Registration Act, 2001
As per Andhra Pradesh Societies Registration Act, 2001, society needs to be registered at the time of forming with an application at the concerned Registrar of Firms. Registration of Society needs to be done in the State where the society is situated or proposed to be located. Society should contain a minimum of 7 members (general body) and minimum 3 executive committee members.
Objective of Society Registration
The objective of society can be the promotion of charitable activities such as art, crafts, fine art, religion, sports literature, culture, political education, science, philosophy or diffusion of any knowledge or any public purpose.
MOA and Bye-Law
On registration of the society, the certified copies of the Memorandum of Association of a society (MOA) and Bye-laws of society will be issued. These documents serve as evidence of society registration.
Memorandum of Association (MOA)
MOA contains objective and activities of the society. Following details will be as mentioned in the memorandum of society:
- Name of the society
- Aim and objective of the society
- Name of members
- Occupation of society members
Bye-Laws of Society
The bye-laws documents contain below-mentioned details of society:
- The identity of society – address
- Society activities
- Details of eligibility, admission, withdrawal and termination of membership
- Details of office bearers – appointment, election, removal, recall and responsibilities
- Finance details
- Information regarding internal matters of settlement of internal disputes, dissolution of the society
- Frequency and how the meetings of the Committee and General Body held
Acceptable Name for Society
As per the provision of prevention of the improper use Act, 1950, society should not register with the name which is against the provision of an Emblem and Name. Within a district, two societies will not have similar names. Society can use words like co-operative, land development, reserve bank, union or State, Municipal or Chartered only after getting permission from the State Government.

Fees of Rs.200 need to be paid for Andhra Pradesh society registration.

Procedure to Register a Society Online
Andhra Pradesh society registration procedure is below in a step by step process:
Step 1: Go to the home of Registration and Stamps Department of Government of Andhra Pradesh.
Step 2: Click on Registration of society (under section: 3) option from the main page. The page will lead to the next page.
Enter applicant Details
Step 3: Provide details of applicant details such as Name Surname, Gender, UID (Adhaar), Address and contact details.
Details of society
Step 4: In the society details section enter Name, General Body meeting and Address of society office. Select society category from the drop-down menu given.
Step 5: Enter the name of the registration district.
Step 8: Application form and affidavit, along with all other documents, need to be uploaded by selecting the document type. Enter the document name and click on choose file option to upload.
Step 9: Click on Save Draft; go through all details before clicking on pay and submit.
Make Payment and Submit Application
Step 10: Click on Pay and Submit option. After successful payment, the society registration application will be forwarded to concern Registrar.
Register of firms maintained at the Registrar office contains up-to-date information about the registered firm. On reviewing the application for society registration, the concerned registrar will approve the society registration. After registration, the certified copies of the MOA and Rules and Regulations (Bye-law) of the society will be issued.
Search Society Certificate Document (MOA)
Click on the certified copy of society registration option from the home page of Registration and Stamp Department. Enter society registration number, name, district and year of registration. Click on search to get the MOA.
Search Society for Byelaw Document
Select the certified copy of Byelaw option from the Registration and Stamp Department home page. Enter society registration number, name, district and year of registration. Click on search to get the Byelaw document.
Status of Application
Select the status of the application from the main page and provide an application reference number. Click on submit.
Status of society registration status will appear.
