Shagun Scheme – Aashirwad
The State Government of Punjab has initiated Shagun Scheme for providing financial assistance to the girl’s marriage under the Department of Welfare of scheduled caste and backward class in the state. The Shagun scheme is also named as Aashirwad Scheme by the government. In this article, we look at the Shagun Scheme in detail.
Objective of this Scheme
Under this Shagun Scheme, the state government will provide financial assistance of Rs.15,000 to Rs. 21,000 for the marriage of daughter who belongs to the low-income family in the state. This scheme will assist in reducing the percentage of child marriage in the state.
Eligibility Criteria
The applicant must possess the below criteria to avail the benefits under this Shagun Scheme:
- Applicant should be a permanent citizen of Punjab state.
- Applicant family must belong to the below poverty line (BPL)
- Applicant must belong to the Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes and other economically weaker families.
Documents Required
The below following documents are required to be submitted along with the application form.
- Aadhar card
- Proof of Residence
- Proof of Birth certificate
- Proof of Caste certificate
- Proof of Income certificate
- Below Poverty Line (BPL) card
- Bank account details
Online Application Procedure
The eligible beneficiaries can apply for the Shagun Scheme through the following steps given below:
Step 1: The applicants can go to the official website of Punjab Sewa Portal (PSP) to apply for the scheme.
Step 2: You have to log in to the portal with your username and password.
Step 3: Click on the “Queue Token” under the operations menu on the home page.
Step 4: Then you have to fill the token entry form and click on the “Process Token” button.
Step 5: You will be moved to the page where you need to click on the “Search Profile” link.
Step 6: Now search your profile by entering your registration number or applicant’s name and click on the “Submit” button.
Step 7: You will be moved to the Service form page where you need to fill all the mandatory details in the form.
Step 8: Then click on the Service menu on the page. You have to upload your photo, fill in the details of service and click on the “Submit” button.
Step 9: You have to upload all the supporting documents and click on the “Submit the Process” button.
Step 10: After completing the form, you will receive a reference number as an acknowledgement to verify your application status.
Offline Application Procedure
The offline application for this scheme, the procedure is much similar to online. To download the form, kindly follow the steps given below:
Step 1: The applicant has to log in to the Punjab Sewa Portal (PSP) and click on the Aashirwad Scheme under the “Online services” menu on the home page.
Step 2: Then download the application form in the PDF format.

Step 3: After downloading the form, the applicant can fill the e-form without using the internet.
Step 4: Then you need to upload it to the portal to finish the application process.
Step 5: After that, you will receive a reference number as an acknowledgement.
Track Application Status
To check the application status of the Service form, the applicant has to go to the “Punjab Sewa Portal” link. Then you need to enter the reference number, year, captcha code and click on the Search button. After that, the status of your application will be displayed on the screen.
