The welfare of Scheduled Caste and Backward Classes Department of Haryana Government has launched Samajik Samrasta Antarjatiya Vivah Shagun Yojana in the year 2016. The primary objective of this assistance scheme is to promote communal harmony and encouraging inter-caste marriages in the state. Through this scheme, the Government provides financial assistance to inter-caste married couples. The objective of CM Inter Caste Marriage Assistance Scheme

The objective of Samajik Samrasta Antarjatiya Vivah Shagun Yojana is to promote communal harmony by encouraging people for intercaste marriages to eliminate caste discrimination in Haryana.

Grant for Inter Caste Married couples

The Government provides an amount of Rs. 2.5 lakh as an incentive to the intercaste married couples. Half of the amount will be directly transferred to the joint account of the couple immediately after marriage, and the balance amount will be given after one year of cohabitation of the couples.

Eligibility Criteria

Following eligibility criteria are necessary to avail the benefits of the scheme:
  • Couples should be a citizen of India
  • Permanent resident of Haryana can only apply for this scheme
  • This scheme has been launched for schedule caste family in Haryana. To avail the benefits, a groom or a bride must be scheduled caste and the second should be a non-schedule caste
  • The grant is for the first marriage. It should be the first marriage for both the bride and groom
Note: The applicant can apply for this grant within three years from the date of the marriage ceremony.

Documents Required

All the applicants who want to avail these benefits will have to submit the following documents.
  • District Magistrate (Civil marriage) issue the marriage certificate in case of Civil Marriage. The Tehsil rate or Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) issues the registered certificate
  • Bank Account Book – Joint account of inter-caste married couples
  • Caste certificate of couples
  • Domicile certificate of couples
  • Joint photograph of the inter-caste married couples

Apply for CM Inter Caste Marriage Assistance Scheme

Procedure to apply for Mukhya Mantri Samajik Samrasta Antarjatiya Vivah Shagun Yojana are the following: Step 1: Visit District welfare office (DWO) in the area. Step 2: The applicant has to apply along with the inter-caste marriage certificate and all other required documents to the concerned officer in DWO for verification.
Step 3:  The District Welfare Officers will verify the following details furnished in the application form:
  • Facts stated in the application form
  • Place of the marriage ceremony
Step 4: After the verification process, DWOs will approve the application and sanction the amount.

Payment of Grant

After the issue of the sanction, fifty per cent of the incentive amount will be deposited in the Joint account of the couple. The remaining will be kept as a fixed deposit in a joint account of the couples in a nationalised bank with a lock-in period of 3 years with no-premature encashment facility.  After three years, couples can withdraw the remaining amount to lead a better life.
