Rajasthan Vehicle Tax Act

All vehicles purchased in the state; the likes of which include two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers and commercial vehicles, should have the registration done in line with the state norms. For this purpose, the concerned owner has to register their vehicles under the Motor Vehicle Taxation Act of the state. The Act was introduced in the year 1951 and is continuously updated by the government for the betterment of the people of the state.

How to Calculate Vehicle Tax in Rajasthan

In the State of Rajasthan, vehicle tax is calculated as per the government regulations and by the provision made under the state of Rajasthan Motor Vehicle Act. The vehicle owner should maintain details such as registration number, vehicle type and chase number. These details can be filled through the online portal in the official government website. The amount of liability is calculated according to the details provided, after which the vehicle owner can make the payment through online means. Once the payment is made, the copy of the receipt can be printed out. The government rules suggest that the vehicle owner should always have a copy of the same with him.

Vehicle Tax Imposed on Two-Wheelers

The tax levied for different types of two-wheelers in the State are tabulated below:

Vehicle Tax Imposed On Three-Wheelers

The tax levied for different types of two-wheelers in the State are tabulated below:

If the cost of the Chassis is up to RS 1,50,0003.75% of the cost of the vehicle
If the cost of the vehicle is above RS 1,50,0004% of the cost of the vehicle
If the cost of the Chassis is above RS 1,50,0005% of the cost of the vehicle

Vehicle Tax Imposed On Four-Wheelers

The tax imposed on four-wheelers under the Motor Vehicles Act is subject to the type, seating capacity and the rules pertaining to this provision:

Type of 4 Wheeler with a seating capacity of up to 10 inclusive of driverTax to be paid
If the cost of the vehicle is up to RS 3,00,0004% of the cost of the vehicle
If the cost of the vehicle is between 3,00,000 to 6,00,0006% of the cost of the vehicle
If the cost of the vehicle is above RS 6,00,0008% of the cost of the vehicle
Trailer or Sidecar is drawn by above vehicles0.3% of the cost of the vehicle the trailer is attached to

Vehicle Tax Imposed on Other Vehicles

The tax imposed on other motor vehicles are listed below, along with the minimum and maximum rates of levy:

Construction equipment vehicles apart from harvesters purchased as a whole body6% of the cost of the vehicle

Note: The equipment and harvest combine used in agriculture are exempt from vehicle tax.

How To Pay Vehicle Tax

In Rajasthan, the vehicle tax is charged along with the purchase price at the time of registration. The payment must be either deposited to the regional transport officer in person or through the government website.
