National Scholarships Portal is considered as a Mission Mode Project under the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP). This initiative aims at rendering a best and transparent services for a quick & effective disposal of Scholarships applications. The funds get delivered directly into beneficiaries account without any spills. In this article, we shall examine the details of National Scholarship Portal.

The national scholarship is a simplified process for the students. The process commences with a common application form for all scholarships. A one-time registration is sufficient for the scholarship. The system itself proposes schemes for the student considering the eligibility criteria fixed by the board. The portal is transparent, eliminated duplication and releases scholarship amount directly to bank accounts of students through direct benefit transfer. An SMS and E-Mail alerts would be sent on completion of each step of the scholarship process. It serves as a Decision Support System (DSS) as up-to-date information is available on request and it is stored on a scalable and configurable platform.

Online Student Registration Process

Let's look at the process of registering the student scholarship online.

Step: 1 - Visit the Portal

Step: 2 - Student Login

The student must first register himself via the Student registration Page on the National Scholarship portal.

Step: 3 - Registration Form

Once the student logs in, he or she would be directed to a registration form where they would have to fill in the details as per the instructions on the portal. This includes personal details such as Student Name, Domicile State, Fresh/renewal, Name of Father, Mother, Guardian, Date of Birth, Caste, Community, Aadhaar Number (If available), Email, Phone Number and Student ID.

Step: 4 - Temporary ID

Post saving the details filled in, the student would receive a “Temporary ID”.  is received, the student applying the scholarship would be prompted to submit his or her Temporary ID and date of birth to fill in subsequent details. The entry of details is complete.

Step: 5 - Submission of Form

Once entry of necessary information is complete, registration is complete by clicking the submit button.

Step: 6 - Permanent ID

Once the registration is submitted, the student receives a Permanent Registration ID, which is usually used for tracking the status and renewing the registration. Once the student receives the Permanent Registration ID, he/she would not be able to modify the details until the Scholarship application processing is complete.

Renewal of Student Registration

In order to process a renewal, the student must apply with his or her bank account no and date of birth which was registered the previous year. Students could also use the option “forgot registration id” to retrieve their original ID.
