Khadi Karigar Janashree Bima Yojana
The Government of India and Life Insurance Cooperation (LIC) have together launched a group insurance scheme called “Khadi Karigar Janashree Bima Yojana” to provide life insurance cover to the khadi artisans (spinners and weavers). This scheme provides insurance cover against normal death, accidental death and disability of the insured member. Under this scheme, the premium value for insurance is partly subsidised by the Government of India and partly by the contribution from social security fund. For those who need to be insured under this scheme has to satisfy the following conditions to avail the benefits of the Scheme:- The age group should be between 18 to 59 years.
- Khadi Karigar those who are below the poverty line and marginally above the poverty line are eligible to apply for the scheme.
- Any member of the approved vocation/occupation groups would apply for the scheme.
- The groups will be identified and notified by LIC in consultation with the Nodal Agency.
- A group would have a minimum of 25 members.
Features of the Insurance Coverage
Khadi Karigar Janashree Bima Yojana is to provide insurance coverage to Khadi Karigar are as follows:Natural Death Coverage

- In the event of natural death of the member, a Sum Assured of Rs. 30,000/- will be payable to the nominee.
Accident Coverage

- In the case of Accidental Death or Total Permanent Disability, a Sum Assured of Rs. 75,000/- will be paid to the nominee.
- In the case of partial disability (loss of one eye or one limb), a Sum Assured of Rs. 37,000/- will be paid to the applicant.
Additional Benefits
This scheme also provides scholarship to the children whose family covered under Khadi Karigar Janashree Bima Yojana. A scholarship amount given per child is of Rs. 600 for every 6 months to students studying in 9th to 12th including students pursuing ITI. A maximum of two children is covered under the scheme for the scholarship.Premium Contribution
