  • If a birth has occurred in an abandoned place, the Headman of the village or the person in charge of the local police station can register the birth.

Documents Required

To apply for the birth certificate, furnish the following documents along with the application:

  • Duly completed application form
  • Parent's birth certificate
  • Parent's marriage certificate
  • Birth proof was given by the hospital
  • Parent's identity proof
  • An affidavit consisting of the details of the birth

Application Procedure

  • A birth registered within 21 days of its occurrence, has no fee.
  • A birth registered after 21 days but less than 30 days of its occurrence requires a fee of Re. 1.
  • A birth registered after 30 days of its occurrence requires a fee of Re. 1. In addition to this, the applicant has to obtain a permit from the specified officer.
  • A birth registered after one year of its occurrence requires a fee of Re. 1. In addition to this, the applicant has to obtain a permit from the Executive Magistrate.
