Haryana Shramik Panjikaran Abhiyan Scheme

The plight of construction workers in the unorganized sector leaves a lot to be desired. These labourers are forced to work under unhygienic work conditions, with little scope for basic needs like food, water, and shelter. To make it worse, they are hardly remunerated for their efforts, despite being the creators of the infrastructure we cherish. As a measure to curb this situation, the Haryana Government has initiated a new scheme known as Haryana Shramik Panjikaran Abhiyan scheme, the object of which is to offer an identity card to the labourers for the purpose of granting them a unique identity, as well as for their overall development. To be precise, the Government intends to facilitate the workers with all the essential needs and grant them perks which they woudn’t be usually entitled to. This article looks at the various aspects of the scheme.

Salient Features of the Scheme

The following are the various facets of the initiative:

  • The scheme strives to improve the affairs of the construction workers by granting them a unique identity, thereby providing them with ample recognition and reward for their endeavors.
  • The scheme will be implemented in three phases so as to extend the benefits to the majority of workers in the State.
  • The program has been currently implemented in 55 labor chowks. More chowks will be ushered in at the prospective phases.
  • Canteens will be initiated in various parts of the state to cater to these workers.
  • Through this scheme, the laborers will be considered eligible for the perks sponsored by both the Central and State Governments.
  • A sum of Rs. 400 crores have been allocated to meet the basic needs of the workers.

Applicability

The scheme is applicable to the citizens of Haryana who have been engaged in construction or other physical and supervisory work for a period of 90 days during a particular previous year. The age of the applicant should be between 18-60 years.

Documents Required

The following documents must be furnished to be enrolled into the scheme:

  • Copy of residential proof
  • Copy of Aadhar Card
  • Copy of age proof
  • Work proof  that certifies that the concerned worker was employed in the role for at-least 90 days in a particular previous years
  • Three passport size photos

The documents must be furnished with a registration fee of Rs 25.

Phases of Implementation

The scheme will be implemented in three phases. The first phase, which is nearing implementation, will involve the registration of laborers in the selected labor chowks. The second phase will involve registration of construction workers throughout the state, and the last phase will deal with the registration of laborers located in rural habitats.

How to Register?

The procedure for registration hasn’t been specified yet as the scheme is yet to be implemented. It has been contemplated that the scheme, upon implementation, will include both online and offline modes of registration.
