eScholarship Tamilnadu

The scholarship is a reward of financial help for students to support their educational pursuits. Scholarships are rewarded, taking into perspective the various criteria that generally reflect the values and reasons of the donor or founder of the award. In order to make the scholarship disbursement genuine and speedy, the Tamilnadu Government has introduced eScholarship services. Through the eScholarship program, the Tamilnadu Government offers various scholarships for students pursuing school or college education. In this article, we look at eScholarhip in Tamilnadu and the list of scholarships available for students.

eScholarship

Tamilnadu Government offers a plethora of scholarship services to the needy. The most popular amongst them are the eScholarships for students from the following castes:

  • Backward Class and Most Backward Class
  • Adi Dravidar, Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes, and SCC.
  • Minorities.

Student Eligible for eScholarship

The Students who have passed their previous examination with at least 50 % marks, and whose parents have an annual income of not more than Two lakh of Rupees are eligible to apply for the TN escholarship.

Students belonging to the Tamilnadu State Economically Backward Class of Tribal Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists & Zoroastrians (Parsis) can apply for the escholarship online

Escholarship can be availed for pursuing XI, XII, ITI, ITC affiliated courses, NCVT classes at XI & XII level, Polytechnic, Diploma in Nursing, Teacher Training, Under Graduate, Post Graduate Courses, M.Phil, Ph.D. level Study’s in the State Government Aided and Recognized Private Institutions.

 

Applying for eScholarship

The Students studying in  Class XI and XII can apply for the Scholarship by filling a scholarship application form with all details of the Students and submitting the same with the date, to the Headmaster or Principal of the school for a fresh application or renewal of the same.

Students who are pursuing their Polytechnic, Diploma in Nursing, Teacher Training, Under Graduate, Post Graduate Courses, M.Phil, Ph.D. level Could apply via online with filling an application form, in compliance with the below-mentioned steps:

  • Select Online filling Option
  • Enter the Student Basic Details
  • Submit by Clicking Save Option
  • After Successfully Submitting the information on the TN Scholarship 2018 Online Application form, the student must take a printout to submit the listed Certificates or Documents with their College Head of the Department.

  • Affixed recent passport size photo
  • Mark-sheet(s)(Consolidated Mark-sheet only)
  • Community Certificate
  • Income Certificate
  • For Self Employed Parents or Guardian, a Self Certification of Income declaration by way of an Affidavit in the Non-Judicial Stamp Paper with the value of Rs.10 (in original)
  • Address Proof (Ration Card, Voter ID, PAN Card, etc.)
  • Fee receipts paid by the Student
  • Proof of Bank Account Number (Core Banking Service) with IFS Code (11 Digits)

In addition to the above Scheme, various other scholarships are available for students in Tamilnadu as provided below:

National Scholarship Portal

National Scholarships Portal is a one-stop solution through which various services starting from student application, application receipt, processing, sanction, and disbursal of various scholarships to Students are enabled. This initiative aims at providing a Simplified, Mission-oriented, Accountable, Responsive & Transparent ‘SMART’ System for faster & effective disposal of Scholarships applications and delivery of funds directly into beneficiaries’ accounts without any leakages. Students across India can apply for various scholarships on the National Scholarship Portal.

Young Scientists Fellowship Scheme

The objective of the Young Scientists Fellowship scheme is to encourage Young Scientists and equip them with knowledge of the latest techniques and developments in their fields of research. Selected scientists can undergo training/learn sophisticated instrumentation techniques or modern research methodologies or do collaborative research work with senior scientists in any of the high-level research centers/ universities in India. This Scheme helps them to update their knowledge and disseminate the same to their students. Students are thus provided high-quality education.

Post Matric or Pre Matric and Merit cum Means Scholarship

The benefit of schemes implemented for the welfare of BCs, MBCs, DNCs in Tamilnadu is available only to those who are natives of Tamilnadu and who belong to the castes included in the list of BCs, MBCs, DNCs. Anyone who is not a native of Tamilnadu is not entitled to any benefit from any scheme even if he belongs to a caste included in the list of BCs, MBCs and DNCs of Tamilnadu.

BC, MBC& DNC Welfare schemes are being implemented by district Collectors in the districts. He is assisted by District Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Officer -Cum- Regional Manager Tamilnadu Backward Classes Economic Development Corporation in the implementation of the schemes at the district level.

This Fund was introduced in the year 1959. The main objective of this Scheme is to motivate the deserving children of the non-gazetted Police Personnel to pursue higher education through this Scholarship. The Annual donations and Lumpsum contributions constitute this Fund. A sum of Rs.2,87,87,500/- was sanctioned during the year 2009-2010. Further, to encourage and facilitate the bright and promising young children of the Employee of the Police Department, Tamilnadu Government has introduced the Tamilnadu Government Special Scholarship to pursue their higher education and in which the first 100 wards who had secured highest marks in +2 standard will be paid Rs.20,000 or the amount paid to the institutions whichever is less for 4 years or till the course is completed.

Jawaharlal Nehru Scholarships for Doctoral Studies

The Jawaharlal Nehru Scholarships for Doctoral Studies is available for Ph.D. study in India to the following categories of students:

  • Indian Nationals
  • Nationals of other Asian countries

To be eligible for. the Scholarship, the student must choose a certain specialization like Indian History and Civilization, Sociology, Comparative Studies in Religion & Culture, Economics, Geography, Philosophy, or Ecology & Environment. Further, at the time of making the application for a scholarship, a candidate should hold a FIRST Class Post-graduate degree with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate at both graduate and postgraduate levels.

University Grants Commission

The University Grants Commission provides over 20 different scholarships and fellowships for students pursuing higher education. Students can apply for a scholarship and track their application online here.

Aditya Birla Scholarship Programme

The Aditya Birla Scholarship Programme is the Group’s way of pursuing Mr. Aditya Vikram Birla’s ideals of spawning leaders with a passion for excelling. Attained through fostering outstanding academic excellence and humane leadership values, in partnership with select IITs, BITS (Pilani), IIMs, XLRI, and law campuses.

The Aditya Birla Scholarships cover a large part of academic fees as well as the hostel fees for the IITs or BITS stream and some part of the tuition fee for the management and law streams. The scholarship amount for

  • IIMs or XLRI Rs. 1,75,000 per annum
  • IIT or BITS (Pilani): Rs 65,000 per annum
  • LAW Rs. 1,80,000 per annum or fees at actuals, whichever is lower

Foundation for Excellence Fellowship

The mission of Foundation for Excellence Fellowship is to provide scholarships to exceptionally bright students who have financial constraints, enabling them to achieve professional success as Engineers and Doctors. The Scholarship helps talented students pursue sought-after courses in India.

Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE)

“Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE)” is an innovative program sponsored and managed by the Department of Science & Technology for the attraction of talent to Science. The basic objective of INSPIRE is to communicate to the youth of the country the excitements of creative pursuit of science, attract talent to the study of Science at an early age, and thus build the required critical human resource pool for strengthening and expanding the Science and Technology system and R&D base.

A striking feature of the program is that it does not believe in conducting competitive exams for the identification of talent at any level. It believes in and relies on the efficacy of the existing educational structure for the identification of talent.

Young India Fellowship

The Young India Fellowship (YIF) is a one-year multidisciplinary postgraduate diploma program in Liberal Studies. The Fellowship brings together a group of 300 bright young individuals who show exceptional intellectual ability and leadership potential from across the country and trains them to become socially committed agents of change.

Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students

The Scheme is in operational since 2008. The objective of the Scheme is to provide financial assistance to the meritorious students having a family income of less than Rs.6 lakh per annum, to meet a part of their day-to-day expenses while pursuing higher studies. The annual target is 82000 scholarships per year (41000 for boys and 41000 for girls), which has been divided amongst the State Education Boards based on the State’s population in the age group of 18-25 years. Students who are above 80th percentile of successful candidates in the relevant stream from a particular Board of Examination in class XII and pursuing the regular courses and not availing the benefit of any other scholarships are eligible to apply under this Scheme. The rate of Scholarship is Rs. 10,000 per annum for the first three years and Rs. 20,000 per annum for the fourth and fifth year.

National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation

The objective of the Scheme is to provide financial assistance to the differently-abled students to enable them to pursue professional or technical courses from recognized institutes and get employed/self-employed.  These scholarships will be available for studies in India, for all differently-abled students who are covered under the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunity, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995 and the National Trust for the Welfare of Persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation, and Multiple Disabilities Act, 1999. Only Indian Nationals will be eligible for scholarships.
