NSIC Marketing Assistance Scheme

National Small Industries Corporation Ltd. (NSIC), is a Government of India Enterprise under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME). NSIC has a mission of promoting, aiding and fostering the growth of SSI and MSME enterprises in India. Marketing is an important factor that determines the success of any business. Large businesses have plenty of capabilities to market their products and/or services. However, SSI and MSME units do not have the resources nor the support to undertake marketing activities on part with large business. Therefore, to provide SSI and MSME units a level playing field with large businesses, NSIC provides the followings benefits under NSIC marketing assistance scheme for SSI and MSME units:

Participation in NSIC organized International Technology Exhibitions in Foreign Countries

Space rent: Upto 75% of the actual charges for renting exhibition space in trade fairs or exhibitions. Upto 95% of the actual charges for SSI or MSME Enterprises belonging to NE Region or Women or SC/ST Entrepreneurs.
Freight: Actuals expenditure subject to a maximum of Rs.25000/- for good transported per entrepreneur.
Airfare: Upto 75% of the economy class return fare (for one representative from one business). Upto 95% of the actual charges for SSI or MSME Enterprises belonging to NE Region or Women or SC/ST Entrepreneurs.

The above subsidies are subject to a maximum of Rs.2.25 lakhs for Micro Enterprises, Rs.2.00 lakh for Small Enterprises and Rs.1.50 lakh for Medium Enterprises.

Participation in International Exhibitions/Trade Fairs held in Foreign Countries

Space rent: Upto 75% of the actual charges for renting exhibition space in trade fairs or exhibitions. Upto 95% of the actual charges for SSI or MSME Enterprises belonging to NE Region or Women or SC/ST Entrepreneurs.
Freight: Actuals expenditure subject to a maximum of Rs.20000/- for good transported per entrepreneur.
Airfare: Upto 85% of the economy class return fare (for one representative from one business). Upto 95% of the actual charges for SSI or MSME Enterprises belonging to NE Region or Women or SC/ST Entrepreneurs.

Other Subsidies: 20% of the allotted subsidy can be used for advertisements, publicity and theme pavilion but to the maximum of Rs.5 lakhs.

The above subsidies are subject to a maximum of Rs.2.40 lakhs for Micro Enterprises, Rs.2.10 lakh for Small Enterprises and Rs.1.25 lakh for Medium Enterprises.

Participation in Domestic Exhibitions or Trade Fairs in India

Exhibition space is provided by NSIC to MSMEs in various domestic exhibitions at subsidised rates to enable them to exhibit their products and services. The rates of subsidy available for participation of an SSI or MSME unit in a domestic exhibition or trade fair are:

  • For regular SSI or MSME Units
    • Micro Enterprises: 75%
    • Small Enterprises: 60%
    • Medium Enterprises: 25%
  • For SSI or MSME Units belonging to NE Region or Women or SC/ST category
    • Micro Enterprises: 95%
    • Small Enterprises: 85%
    • Medium Enterprises: 50%

Participation in the “Techmart” Exhibition

Each year NSIC organizes “Techmart” an international exhibition, wherein the best MSME products, technologies and services of India are showcased. NSIC does not provide any subsidy for regular SSI or MSME units participating in this exhibition. However, the following subsidies are available for SSI or MSME units belonging to Entrepreneurs from the NE Region or Women or SC/ST category:

  • Micro Enterprises: 95%
  • Small Enterprises: 85%
  • Medium Enterprises: 50%

The maximum support for “Techmart” is Rs.75 lakhs from NSIC with the approval of the Ministry.

Co-sponsoring of Exhibitions organized by other Organisations or Industry Associations or Agencies

NSIC can co-sponsor and participate in exhibitions or trade fairs conducted by other organisations or industry associations or agencies to promote MSMEs in the country. To be eligible for co-sponsoring from NSIC, the fair should have at least 5000 sq.ft covered area exclusively for stalls/shops and must have participation from at least 50 MSME units. Further, the organizer is required to provide a stall of at least 100 sq.ft. to NSIC, to disseminate information about the promotional and other schemes of the Ministry and its organisations. The quantum of co-sponsorship is as follows:

  • Rs.5 lakh in case of ‘A’ class cities.
  • Rs.3 lakh in case of ‘B’ class cities.
  • Rs.2 lakh in case of ‘C’ class cities.
  • Rs.1 lakh in case of rural areas

The sponsorship should be utilized for expenditure on the hiring of exhibition ground/hall, erection of stalls, publicity etc. and is limited to 40% of the net expenditure (gross expenditure – total income).

Participation in Buyer-Seller Meets

Buyers-Sellers meets are organized for connecting bulk buyers and Government departments to SSI and MSME units at one platform. Buyers-Seller Meets are usually organized by the NSIC in consultation with the concerned stakeholders, including industry associations and other agencies. Buyer-seller meets are finalized well in advance and publicized widely by the NSIC. The following assistance is available for SSI or MSME units belonging to Entrepreneurs from the NE Region or Women or SC/ST category participating in Buyer-Seller Meets:

  • Micro Enterprises: 95%
  • Small Enterprises: 85%
  • Medium Enterprises: 50%

The budgetary support for “Buyer-Seller” meets on space rental, interior decoration, advertisement, etc. is as follows:

  • Rs.5 lakh in case of ‘A’ class cities.
  • Rs.3 lakh in case of ‘B’ class cities.
  • Rs.2 lakh in case of ‘C’ class cities.
  • Rs.1 lakh in case of rural areas

Intensive Campaigns and Marketing Promotion Events

To propagate the information on the benefit of MSMEs, the promotion events are conducted all over the country where the knowledge of developments, quality standards, are shared to develop the business. The support provided by the scheme is as follows:

  • Rs.80,000 in case of ‘A’ class cities.
  • Rs.48,000 in case of ‘B’ class cities.
  • Rs.32,000 in case of ‘C’ class cities.
  • Rs.16,000 in case of rural areas

The NSIC is the authorised entity who has approval authority and screening every event. The administrative charges will either equally shared between MSME and NSIC or by MSME alone.
