Annapurna Akshaya Patra Yojana

Annapurna Akshaya Patra Yojana is a new meal scheme initiated by the state government of Punjab and Haryana. This scheme provides nutritious food to poor people at low cost. In this article, we look at Annapurna Akshaya Patrna Yojana (AAKY) in detail.

Purpose of the AAPY

This scheme aims to offer a hygienic and affordable food to needy people in the state of Punjab and Haryana at the lesser cost compared to the market price.

The government will provide food includes chapatis, Sabji, and pickles at the rate of Rs.10.
Under this scheme, the government will spend 3 lakhs per month for 30,000 packets.
The objective of the government is to reach 10,000 packets per day.
The food packets will be obtainable from 6pm to 9pm.
The government has setup a kitchen at a total cost of Rs.70 lakhs.

Implementation Process

The government distributes the food through the special van that is allotted for distributing the food items. People visit to the place covered under the food distribution centers to collect the food. This scheme has made the people to stay healthy and thereby they could have better performance in their work and that resulted in effective development of nation.
