AISHE – Check AISHE Code, Procedure & Approval
All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) was established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development for conducting an annual web-based survey, thereby portraying the status of higher education in the country. The survey is conducted for all educational institutions in India on many categories like teachers, student enrolment, programmes, examination results, education finance, and infrastructure. This survey is used to make informed policy decisions and research for the development of education sector.
Objectives
There are two objectives for this survey are to:
- Identify all the institutions of higher learning in the country
- Collect data from all the higher education institutions on various aspects of higher education.
Data Collection
Collection of data is done under the following categories.
- Institution’s Basic Details
- Teacher’s Details
- Details of Non-Teaching Staff
- Programme conducted under various Faculties/Schools & Departments/Centres
- Students enrolled in these programmes
- Examination result of the terminal year of each Programme
- Financial Information such as Receipt and Expenditure under various heads
- Availability of Infrastructure
- Scholarships, Loans & Accreditation
Implementation Procedure
- The Survey collects the data in the authorized format from Higher Education Institutions (HEI).
- The Identified Nodal Officers of the HEIs will be given a user login and a password.
- The reports that are produced by these officers are called as AISHE reports.
- These reports are available on the official website of the Ministry.
- AISHE reports are available on the website of the Ministry and on the AISHE portal.
- As an added feature, it is also available in Excel formats if there is a further analysis that has to be done by the users.
Track Record
- Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) is a system implemented to determine the enrolment of the students between the age group 18-23 years.
- There is a notable success of this scheme where the ratio has been increased from 19.4% in 2010-2011 to 25.2% in 2016-2017.
- The scheme has a target of achieving 30% GER in higher education by 2020.
- Tamil Nadu is said to have the highest GER in the country with 46.9% whereas Bihar is the lowest with 14.9%.
- The ratio of gender representation, Gender Parity Index (GPI) has improved from 0.86 to 0.94 with the increase in the number of educational institutions. This shows that more students are opting for higher education in India.
- A portal has been implemented for the teachers called ‘Gurujan’ to collect details of the teachers.
- This system has also increased the foreign students in the country- 47,575 in 2016-17 from 45,424 in 2015-16, with 31,779 men and 15,796 women.
- Majority of the students are from the neighbouring countries like Nepal, Afghanistan and Bhutan.
- This system analyses the quality of the faculty employed in colleges and universities.
Know Your Approving Authority
Once an institution is applied for the registration, the applicant can know the approving authority by following the steps.
Step 1: Log in to the Website
The applicant has to log in to the official website.
Step 2: Select ‘Know Your Approving Authority’
Under quick links, there is an option Know Your Approving Authority. The applicant has to click on this and it directs to a new page.
Step 3: Enter the Role and State
The applicant has to enter the role and the State and then click on Search option. All the details about the authority are furnished with this option.
Know Your AISHE Code
Step 1: Log in to the Website
The applicant has to log in to the official website.
Step 2: Select ‘Know Your AISHE Code’
Under quick links, there is an option for Know Your AISHE Code. The applicant has to click on this and this directs to a new page.
Step 3: Enter the details
The applicant has to enter the details like Institution Type, State and District of the University and then click on Submit option. All the details relating to the code are furnished.
