Telangana Nativity Certificate

Nativity certificate is an important document used to prove where a person was born and where his family resided at a point in time. Nativity certificate can be obtained from the concerned State Governments in India. Nativity certificate is used to certify that an individual is of Indian origin and his relation such as parents or grandparents etc. lived in that particular state. Telangana Government issues Nativity Certificate to residents who fall under SC, ST and BC Castes. In this article, we look at the procedure for obtaining a Telangana nativity certificate.

Importance of Nativity Certificate

The following are the importance of obtaining a nativity certificate:
  • Nativity certificate can be used to show residence in a particular state of the country
  • Nativity certificate is mandatory to get admission in an educational institution where seats are reserved for only state residents
  • To obtain a ration card, nativity certificate can be used
  • Nativity certificate is necessary for availing quotas in an educational institution
  • To apply for quota Government jobs, nativity certificate can be furnished
  • To apply for scholarship schemes, nativity certificate is necessary 

Nativity Certificate for OCI/PIO

Nativity certificate is mandatory for getting Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) or People of Indian Origin (PIO) status from Indian embassies. All foreigners need to prove the Indian original to get the PIO or OCI status; hence this certificate is necessary to prove the Indian original of that person. Commonly nativity certificate contains the seal and signature of a first-class magistrate along with other formalities, and it has to be attested by the Ministry of External Affairs to get OCI or PIO.

Eligibility Criteria

To obtain a nativity certificate from the Telangana Government, the following are the eligibility criteria:
  • Applicant must be a Resident of Telangana (Belongs to SC/ST/BC community)
  • Proof of continuous residence for seven years or more

Documents Required

Documents required for applying nativity certificate in Telangana are the following:
  • Application Form
  • Community Certificate issued to the family members
  • SSC marks memo or DOB extract or Transfer certificate
  • 1 to 10th study certificate or DOB certificates issued by Municipality or Gram Panchayat
  • Ration Card, EPIC Card or Aadhaar Card
  • Documents related to immovable Properties

Processing Time

Time Frame to issue the nativity certificate is 30 days from the date of application.

Validity

Nativity certificate holds lifelong validity.

Fee Details

To obtain a nativity certificate from Telangana Government, a citizen needs to pay an amount of Rs.35.

Applying Nativity Certificate through MeeSeva

The following are the procedure for applying nativity certificate through MeeSeva Franchise in Telangana: Step 1: The applicant needs to visit the MeeSeva Franchise in the locality.

Submit Application

Step 2: The applicant has to submit an application form in the prescribed format to the MeeSeva operator along with all supporting documents. Provide the following details in the application form.
  • Name
  • Parents Name
  • Age or Date of Birth
  • Address
  • Community Details
  • Aadhaar Number
  • Household Survey Number
Separate application forms are available for SC, BC and ST community candidates. Application form for SC or BC is below for reference: Candidates belonging to ST community can use this form for applying Nativity Certificate in Telangana. Step 3: MeeSeva person will forward the request for a nativity certificate online to the concerned authority. The concerned Department will process the nativity certificate request, and after successful verification, the authorized Government Officer will issue the Nativity Certificate. Note: The applicant will get an application number through SMS to registered mobile number and email ID.

Application Status

Step 4: Once the nativity certificate is started processing, an SMS will be sent regarding the status of the application. Provide the application number and click on the Go button to get details.

Step 5: After the approval of the certificate; the applicant can check the details of the certificate online through the MeeSeva Portal. Enter the application number and click on the Go button. If anything found incorrect, contact the MeeSeva centre for making the correction.

Get Nativity Certificate

Step 6: Revisit any MeeSeva franchise after receiving approved SMS and all details in online MeeSeva Certificate are found correct Step 7: Provide the application number to MeeSeva operator; he or she will provide the nativity certificate from the application repository. The applicant can get a printed copy of the Telangana nativity certificate; it is applicable for many purposes.
