Shetkari Samman Yojana

Farmers in India are reported to be in a state of agony and distress owing to factors such as increasing production costs and variations in the price of commodities. This leads to a scenario where the farmers do not have the capacity to repay the loans obtained by them, which eventually results in farmers unrest and suicides. Hence, the Government of Maharashtra has initiated the “Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Shetkari Sanman Yojana.” Named after the warrior king of the days of yore, the scheme intends to waive the loans of the hard-working farmer to the extent of Rs 1.5 lakhs. This article looks at the various aspects of the Shetkari Samman Yojana scheme.
