Kerala Startup Mission – Break Corona

Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) has launched the ‘Break Corona’ initiative, to crowdsource ideas, spur innovations and product solutions that would be crucial in the fight against Covid-19. Students, innovators, individuals, communities and NGOs can register at the platform to participate in the Break Corona initiative. The current article briefs the Kerala Startup Mission – Break Corona in detail.

Eligible Projects

Kerala Startup Mission is inviting ideas and solutions that have been proven or used in some other scenario i.e. product /projects with a Proof of Concept (PoC) and /. The categories are as follows

  • Ideas to support Covid 19 Patients
  • Ideas to support Quarantine Covid 19 patients
  • Ideas to arrest Community Outbreak
  • Ideas for effective Logistics and Distribution (Food/Medicine/Grocery)
  • Ideas to support vulnerable people (aged/infants)
  • Ideas to support system during Shutdown
  • Hardware (Temporary medical items or substitutes or any hardware product that can be useful during the time of crisis)
  • Ideas that support during economic slowdown if happens
  • Do It Yourself (DIY) Projects (Creating masks, sanitisers, gloves, etc)
  • Any other ideas/solutions which support the prevention of Covid 19
  • Ideas to create Employment opportunities

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria to apply for Kerala Startup Mission’s Break Corona platform are as follows:

  • Students – School going or college students in any discipline are eligible to apply
  • Innovators – Individuals who have proven their expertise in product and solution development
  • Startups –  A company/firm with a valid registration are eligible to apply
  • Individuals – Any individual who is having an excellent idea that would be a potential game-changer against the fight against COVID-19.
  • Communities – Communities working on technologies or on projects of social importance are eligible to participate.
  • NGOs – Any NGO which has a proven idea which shall be of potential use against the fight against COVID-19

The procedure for applying Kerala Startup Mission – Break Corona is explained below

  • The applicant needs to access the home page of the Break Corona web portal. From the homepage, click on Register now option. The link will redirect to the new page.

  • On the Registration page, provide the details of Name, Email Address, Mobile Number and Location. By clicking on the Sign-in option, the applicant can register in the initiative.

  • After login to the portal, the applicant can submit the proposal/ideas that have potential usage in the fight against the Corona Virus
