Haryana Dwarf Allowance Scheme

The Government of India has rolled out numerous schemes for the benefit and welfare of its citizens covering all categories of beneficiaries that include old-aged, children and women, farmers, unemployed, the destitute, the disabled etc. Adding to the list, a scheme was introduced exclusively for the dwarf people. In India, the State of Haryana introduced the Dwarf Allowance Scheme in support for the dwarfs to avail equal opportunities in all sectors.

Dwarf Allowance Scheme Aspects

Keeping in view the poor economic conditions of the dwarfs in Haryana, the State Government has proposed this financial assistance for the socially and economically deprived dwarfs of the state.

Under this plan, a male person below or of 3 feet 8 inches height and a female person below or of 3 feet 3 inches height that is considered to be 70% handicapped is entitled to a monthly allowance of Rs.1800.

Eligibility Criteria

To be gainful of this scheme, the applicant should satisfy the following eligibility criteria.

The applicant should be a resident of Haryana State and must have resided in Haryana State for previous one year at the time of submission of application.

The beneficiary should be of prescribed height to be eligible i.e., 3 feet 8 inches for male candidates and 3 feet 3 inches for female candidates.

The minimum age of the applicant should be 18 years to apply for this scheme.

The applicant should submit a certificate from the Civil Surgeon as an evidence of being a Dwarf.

Documents Required

The following documents are to be submitted along with the application form.

  • Domicile certificate for being a resident of the state of Haryana
  • Proof of Identity (Aadhar card, ration card)
  • Proof of age (voter id, birth certificate)
  • Certificate of Dwarfism

Application Process

The scheme allows the candidate to apply in offline mode.

Step 1: Mode of Application

The applicant will have to apply for the scheme in the prescribed application form along with the medical certificate. The application form is available free of cost in the District welfare office or can download from the copy provided below.

Step 2: Sanction of Fund

All received applications would be examined by the investigator and will direct the case of grant of allowance through the Section Officer to the District Social Welfare Officer who is the competent authority to sanction. The eligible applicants found will be disbursed the scheme amount on the 1st of every month.

Step 3: Mode of Payment

The grant will be disbursed to the applicant through the Panchayat Raj institution from time to time.

Note:

If the applicant is out of the State, the District Social Welfare Officer will permit the absence for receiving the payment up to one year if satisfied with the reason for absence provided that a record of such undisbursed amount will be maintained in a separate register.

In case of change of residence, the applicant has to apply in effect to that district to transfer the receiving place of the benefit.

Transfer of Grant to Old Age Scheme

The candidate will be transferred to the Old Age allowance Scheme on attaining the age of 60 years by the implementing department.

Stoppage of the Grant

Inspite of sanctioning the allowance, the District Social Welfare Officer has the right to halt the provision at any time of the scheme if the information produced is found to be false. Death of the applicant also causes the stoppage of the allowance.
